West Brookfield - Myland F. McRevey, Jr., 66, of West Brookfield died on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Holyoke Medical Center after a long illness.
He is remembered by his son, Matthew McRevey of Mill Valley, CA; his mother, Shirley Nimmons of West Brookfield, MA; his nieces, Shelby and Mariah, as well as the McReveys and Richardses of West Brookfield, and the Pucketts of West Virginia. Myland was predeceased by his father, Myland F. McRevey Sr., and his brother, Edward Dennis McRevey.
Myland attended Dominican University, and graduated from California College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He worked as an illustrator and graphic designer in San Francisco until 1984, when his award-winning designs piqued the interest of Pleasant Rowland. Myland moved to Madison, WI to develop the identity and branding for Rowland’s then start-up, Pleasant Company, which became the national sensation, American Girl. He worked as the Senior Art Director for American Girl until 1998, while raising his son, Matthew. Later, his talents took him to Aurora, New York, working for MacKenzie-Childs. Myland spent his final years living with his mother Shirley in West Brookfield, Massachusetts.
Myland was a loving father, a giving son, and an enormous talent. With his unique brand of dry wit, and unmatched attention to detail, he impacted many throughout his life. He will be greatly missed.
