Liliane Imbier Obituary

Ware - Liliane J. (Chrysostome) Imbier, 96, of Ware, died peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2020,  after being visited by each of her family members.  She spent the last month of her life in assisted living at Cedarbrook Village in Ware.  She enjoyed it so much:  great care, great food and the company of others.  We are grateful for that.

She leaves her three children: Camille Wegelin and her husband Rolf of Switzerland,  William Imbier and his wife Susan of Ware, and Jacqueline Korzec and her husband William of Ware; her grandchildren: Elizabeth and Douglas Imbier, Andrew and Nicholas Norton, and three great-grandchildren, Isabella Staiti, Jackson Imbier, and Elyse Norton.  She also leaves her sister-in-law Camille Koss and several nieces and nephews.

Liliane was predeceased by her husband, Edmund Imbier, in 2011, her twin sister Odette Jerome, and her granddaugther Christine Imbier.

She was born in Paris, France, daughter of the late Felix and Laure (Latxague) Chrysostome.  She met her husband in Ozoir-la-Ferriere, France, at her family’s hotel restaurant during WWII.  They were married on August 2, 1945, in Paris.  She traveled by ship in May of 1946 to make her new home in Ware.  She had many stories to tell about the adventures in France and Germany that she and her husband shared.

Liliane worked as a nurse’s aide at Quaboag Nursing Home for 25+ years.  She loved working there and was wonderful at her job.  She believed she made a difference in the lives of those she helped to care for, and we know she did.

Liliane was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed nothing more than being with her family, especially when everyone was together, and she loved to dance and sing. She had a special place in her heart for her four-legged friends - anyone who knew her, knew Zoe!  She says goodbye to her Wednesday afternoon card-playing friends Helen Bowen and Caroline Mucha.  She is now playing with the fourth, Irene Higney, who made it to heaven first.  Thank you, Ladies, for the friendship and camaraderie you shared with Mom.

Liliane had been a member of the Social Science Club, Petersham Country Club, and enthusiastically participated in plays and musicals put on by the Ware Rotary Club.  She had also been an Assistant Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.  As a cribbage player, she enjoyed weekly games at the Senior Center, and she was even a bowling team captain while in her 80’s!

Thank you so much to all her neighbors who supported and kept an eye on her.   We truly appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness.
