Ware - Jocelyn M. (Bienvenu) Barbeau, 74, of Ware, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Baystate Medical Center after a brief illness.
She leaves her brother, Roger P. Bienvenu, a sister, Odette C. Verrier and her husband Robert of Beekmantown, New York; four nephews, Jean R. Verrier and his wife Michelle of Aurora, Colorado, Marcellin A. Verrier and his wife Elizabeth of Chazy New York, Christopher P. Bienvenu and his wife Nicole of Hillsborough New Hampshire, and Eric A. Bienvenu and his wife Nicole Gardner; six great-nieces, Sofie and Riley Verrier, Cassidy, Julianna, Ellie and Kelsea Bienvenu and one great-nephew, Peyton Verrier; her sisters-in-law, Linda Bienvenu of Gardner and Cheryl J. Bienvenu of Ware. She is predeceased by her husband, Alphonse A. Barbeau, Jr., and her brother Marcellin N. Bienvenu Jr. Jocelyn was born in Newport, Vermont to the late Marcellin E. and Rhea T. (Porlier) Bienvenu.
Jocelyn grew up in West Warren and moved to Ware after she married her husband Alphonse. She worked as a cashier and later as a food demonstrator for the Big Y Supermarket in Ware. Jocelyn was very much a people person and loved helping her customers and being social with the community. She retired in 2015 after 38 years of dedicated service. Jocelyn was a member of the Ware Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary while Alphonse was a member of the fire department and often responded to many fires along with her husband handing out water and coffee for the firemen.
Jocelyn was a loving and devoted wife. She loved animals and had several pets that she loved dearly. She was very much the family person and was extremely close to her sister and brothers and would do anything for them. She was down to earth, and a loving outgoing person who will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Joycelyn loved spending time at the beach with her husband and family. They would go to Hampton Beach in New Hampshire every year often bringing her younger sister Odette with them.
A Graveside Service will be held in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Ware on July 17, 2020 at 12:00PM. For everyone's health and safety along with current regulations, social distancing and mask protocol should be followed.
