Ware - Edward S. Desjardins, 83, of Ware passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, with his family by his side.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Annette (Vadnais) Desjardins; three sons, Gary Desjardins and his wife Laurie of Ware, Mark Desjardins of Ware, Glen Desjardins and his wife Rebecca of Ware; his daughters Anne Young of Ware, and Jill Svagdis and her husband John of Braintree; twelve grandchildren; Scott, Elizabeth, Michael, Jeffrey, Jason, Karisa, Kirsten, Camille, Clarice, Natalie, Thomas; and Matthew with his wife Nicole and two great-grandchildren Liam and Caitlin. He also leaves his brother Albert Desjardins of Chicopee and two sisters Mary Jean Specht of Chicopee and Gloria LaRiviere of Feeding Hills. Edward was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Doris Desjardins and his sister Georgette Blais. Eddie will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Eddie was born in Montgomery, Vermont in 1936. Spending his early years there growing up until the family moved to Chicopee. As a young man, one of Eddie's first jobs was in a factory (Sickles in Chicopee) where he would meet the love of his life Annette. Eddie and Annette were married on May 25th, 1957 and later moving to Ware, building their own home where they raised their five children. Later on, Eddie would work for K V Homes Construction and eventually become a carpenter and a proud member of Carpenter's Union # 108 in Springfield. Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, telling stories, talking about his grandchildren and their accomplishments, watching the Red Sox, wrestling, and a good cowboy movie. He was also a member of the Swift River Sportsman Club in Belchertown, enjoying the time he spent there. Eddie always had a big smile when you saw him and always enjoyed talking to everyone.
Due to the timing of his passing, services will be held privately. A memorial Mass and celebration of Eddie's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to those in need in the Ware community by supporting the local food pantry; Jubilee Food Cupboard, P.O. Box 447, Ware, MA 01082.
Donations in honor of Eddie may also be made to Baystate Medical Center to support the great work of the nurses that took care of Eddie during these difficult times at baystatehealth.org/giving. (Baystate Health Fund, nurses of units Daily 6A/6B).
