Edith King Obituary

 

West Springfield/Gilbertville - Edith May (Goodfield) King, 91, of West Springfield, and formerly of Belchertown and Gilbertville, died peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Landmark at Monastery Heights.

 

She leaves her two loving daughters, Darlene Wilson of Belchertown and Cheryl Brown and her husband Peter of Granby; her sister, Linda Laprade of Auburn; her three grandchildren, Logan Brown and his wife Jocelyn, Eric Wilson and Melanie Wilson and a great-granddaughter, Angelica Wilson plus nieces, nephews and many special friends.  Edith was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Robert E. King in 2016.  She was born in Ware, daughter of the late William D. and Edith M. (Laveulette) Goodfield.

 

Edith owned and operated Hillside Printing with her husband until they retired. After retirement, they spent the next 25 years enjoying sunny Florida.

 

Edith was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who “did it all.”  From baking delicious treats, to cooking just about anything.  She loved gardening and would can fresh produce from her garden.  Edith and Robert traveled all over the country with camping trips being some of their favorite adventures.  Family time was very special to her, and having everyone together provided lots of laughter and memories. She will be missed by all who knew her.

 

She was a member of Trinitarian Congregational Church in Gilbertville, and worked on many committees at the church, as well as the Order of Eastern Star #116 in Ware.

 

A Graveside Service for Edith in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Ware will be held in the spring.  Memorial donations may be made to “Friends of the Stone Church”, PO Box 347, Main Street, Gilbertville, MA 01031 or friendsofthestonechurch.org

 

Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware is assisting her family with arrangements.
