Charmaine Theresa (Atwood) Masterjohn

West Brookfield - Charmaine (Atwood) Masterjohn, 93, of West Brookfield fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday morning, January 8, 2022 in her home. She was born on December 11, 1928 to Paul and Eudora Atwood in Haverhill, MA. She is predeceased by her husband, Ralph, who reposed in the Lord on February 10, 2018 as well as her sisters Marjorie and Lillian. This special couple, who were married for 72 years, are now reunited in God's heavenly mansions.

Charmaine worked at Raytheon Corporation in Marlborough, until her marriage to Ralph of Marlborough. They met roller skating, a pastime they enjoyed throughout their marriage. They had eight children, Carol, John, Victor, Nicholas, Paul, Peter, Christine and George, plus18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great- great-grandchildren. In the 1950's they relocated to New York City for work and raising their children, which was the great joy in her life. She was a great support to her husband in his religious mission work. In their retirement they returned to Massachusetts to live near their son Victor.

Charmaine, always needing to be kept busy, took on the jobs of crossing guard and cafeteria team at the West Brookfield Elementary school for the next seventeen years. Upon retirement there, she was surprised with a party attended by the children and staff. The sweet sentiments of the children, who saw her as a grandmother figure, warmed her heart.

She and her husband have been faithful Orthodox Christians all their lives and helped establish the Orthodox Christian Center in West Brookfield, which is now home to the Holy Protection Church, which meets regularly.

She will always be remembered for her wonderful smile, her great sense of humor and her caring ways. She and her husband were a wonderful example of a strong, faith filled marriage, with many people seeking their advice. They came with many concerns, always receiving spiritual consolation from them.  Charmaine knew from childhood that there was something greater in life and found it in her strong faith in God, which carried her through many trials and tribulations.

Funeral Services and burial for Charmaine will be held privately.
