Mathieson, his daughter-in-law, Sara M. Bermudez, his three grandchildren, Madison, James and Michael, and his step-father Jose Fernandez whom he loved and respected.  He was born in Izalco, El Salvador, son of the late Moises and Marta H. Carlos came to the United States when he was 17. His father enrolled him into trade school to become a machinist, where he learned to speak English as well. He worked at Heco Pacific for many years before starting a family and moving to Massachusetts. He landed a job at Warren Pumps where he worked as a valued machinist for 36 years before retiring in 2018. He was a great friend and mentor to many he worked with.  Carlos also served in the Army National Guard and was a proud United States citizen.

Carlos was a loving and devoted husband, father, Papa, Bampi and Leto as he was called. His love of his home country showed through in his playing of congas. He played with the Big Band out of Ludlow, Dunny’s in East Brookfield as well as many other venues. He was often called "Carlos Santana".

He was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he served as a sponsor for many individuals whom looked toward him for added support and encouragement.  He was not only support for them, but they were also for him.  He always had encouraging words of wisdom in which he also shared his deep faith and love for the Lord above.

The family would like to thank Baystate Hospice Nurse Laurie and Aide Rose as well as the others that took time to care for our father. We would also like to thank The Cancer Center at Baystate Mary Lane where our father enjoyed many soups during his treatment.  You girls were the best!
