Ware - Joseph E. “Joe” Pellissier, 85, of Ware died on Monday, October 14, 2019, at Baystate Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
He leaves the love of his life of 33 years, Linda M. (Windyka) Pellissier of Ware; his three children, Joseph Pellissier and his wife Denise of Ledyard, CT, Linda Syriac and her husband Phillip of Ware and Karen Pellissier of Ware; his three step-children, Shawn Crevier and his wife Angie of Ware, Scott Crevier and his wife Kelly of Union, CT, and Kristel Johnson and her husband Tim of Ware; his mother-in-law, Victoria Windyka; a brother, Bernard Pellissier and his wife Muriel of Monson; sisters-in-law, Constance Pellissier, Michelle Milligan and her husband Mark and Elizabeth Plourde; five grandchildren, Alicyn, Lauren, Danica, Chelsea and James; five step-grandchildren, Jacob, Tori, Jeffrey, Ryan and Madison; five great-grandchildren, Braedyn, Charlotte, Cameron, Zoey, Sadie and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his six brothers, Gerard, Jean-Louis, Marcel, Paul, Laurent and Roger. Joe was born in Chicopee, son of the late Emile A. and Louise (Bayeur) Pellissier.
Mr. Pellissier served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Joseph was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a people person and lived a well fulfilled life while wearing many hats. He was a police officer for the Metropolitan District Commission for 32 years before retiring with the Massachusetts State Police in 1993. He served as a Selectman for the town of Ware for 2 terms, was the Vice-President of the Ware Community Television Station and hosted on a show on Channel 15. Joe was the Grand Marshal and Master of Ceremonies for several Memorial Day and Veterans Day Parades. He also owned and operated Crystal Springs Dairy Bar and Dewey’s Lounge. Joseph had his pilots license for several years, and was a huge Notre Dame Football fan.
He was a genuine man who will be missed by everyone who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 9:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, 60 South Street in Ware. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 25, from 4 to 7PM in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St. in Ware. Burial will be held St. Mary’s Cemetery following mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joseph’s name to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104, the Alzheimer’s Association of Mass/New Hamphire, 309 AWaverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA, 02452, or St. Mary’s Church, 60 South Street, Ware, MA, 01082.
