Bondsville - George Bruce Stephens, 78, of Bondsville, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2019, surrounded by his family, after a battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Morgan) for 55 years.

Bruce, who previously resided in Hubbardston, Massachusetts, was born in Bronxville, New York on March 29, 1941 to Barbara (Wears) and George Stephens, Jr. A loving and dedicated family man, Bruce is survived by his son, Christopher and wife Diane of Brookline, New Hampshire, his son, Timothy and wife Deborah of Ware, Massachusetts, his son, Shawn of Worcester, Massachusetts, his daughter, Terhi and husband Daniel of Hardwick, Massachusetts, and his son, Daniel Patrick of Bondsville. He was the loving grandfather of Jacob, Kyle, Michelle, David, Vikki, Shawntyl, Brittni, and Brendan. Bruce is also survived by his brother, Donald of Brooklyn, Connecticut, his brother, Richard and wife Patti of Sackets Harbor, New York, and his sister, Barbara “Stink” Peacock of Mesa, Arizona. He was predeceased by his late grandson, Benjamin George Roach.

Bruce was raised in Orchard Park, New York and graduated from Orchard Park High School in 1959, where he was a member of both the swimming and baseball teams. He met Elaine, whom he admired and adored, in 1962 prior to serving in the United States Air Force National Guard between years of 1963 and 1969.  They married in 1964. The two raised their family in Fairport and Palmyra, New York, before Bruce’s career took them to California and then finally Massachusetts.

For nearly three decades, Bruce worked in technology and data infrastructure for both Xerox and Digital Equipment Corporation. He was a pioneer during the early stages of computer technology for both entities, and was lauded for his ability to use analytics and code as a means of problem solving.

Those who knew Bruce best admired his wit and humor, embraced his compassion and selflessness, and applauded his desire for inclusion of everyone around him. He possessed a deep devotion to his family and was blessed with a joyful heart and spirit that was infectious to all who knew him.

A private memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Charbonneau Funeral Home in Ware, Massachusetts on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
