Ware - Dorothy H. (Smith) Albrecht, 88, of Ware died on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with her family by her side.
Known by most people in town as Helen, she leaves her daughter, Dorothy Dangutis and her husband John of Ware; her son, Dwight Albrecht and his wife Sally of Keene, NH; four grandchildren, Bill and his wife Kristi, Lisa and her husband Patrick, Dwight, Jr. and Heather and her husband Spencer; two great-grandchildren, Karissa and Braydie, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her best friend Louise. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Alfred Albrecht last year, as well as 1 brother, and 5 sisters. She was born in and grew up in West Brookfield, daughter of the late David and Florence Smith, and has lived in Ware for 65 years.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, Helen worked at the former local shoe manufacturing companies in the area before retiring in 1985. Helen loved gardening, baking, and reading books.
She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Ware, the VFW Auxiliary, and the DAV Auxiliary.
At her request, services for Helen will be held privately. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Ware. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515 or the Ware Christmas for Kids, 22 North Street, Ware, MA 01082.
